The garden I grew up in
The oldest garden I can remember
Over the next 3 blogs I will share with you the gardens and the farms I grew up around
Growing up I was very lucky to be able to have grandparents and great grandparents that had amazing gardens and places to explore as iv said my dad was a lover of straight lines and lush green lawns I think it was more for convenience now I look back but that wasnt how he was brought up. He was brought around farm land in a little village outside Manchester called simmister.
I aways remember driving though and thinking what an amazing place to live. When you used to drive up to my grandads house you would drive down this high street with amazing maintained gardens past a lovely church you would turn off the main road at the big old hay barn and I think it was stables as well on to a dirt track were there was about 20 or so houses on the track. You could always tell my grandparents house as it had an old retro caravan outside and normally a tractor or a car in the driveway being fixed
Now as much as my grandad love to tinka with his tractors and cars he also has small farm at the other end of the village which the family kept horses on and a pop belly pig on till this day I think this is were my love for wanting land came from just that freedom to do what you want. The farm back onto the village pub and the stables used to go straight through to the back of it the park was also ther it was a kids dream
although I didn't spend many weekends up there (my dad had 5 sister it was quiet the the girl run family) when I did go I enjoy the freedom the climbing though the hay Bails playing on the track just watching my dad and grandad tincka with things. As a child you remember smells, comments, places one that always sticks in my mind was a day my grandads was restoring a tractor in the garage it was raining outside him and my dad was talking about something and I just started climbing over all the tools making my way up onto the tracktor I still remember it well my grandads said you enjoying you self with which I replied yes then in the background I heard my dad shout I would have been kicked out into the rain for that I think he was joking but these are the memories you cherish when you get older.
